Chapter 1 Gangrel, Edge and Christian wondered the streets late one night looking for a possible victim and/or someone to join them. All the sudden a young girl ran into Edge. "Sorry..." she mumbled as she rushed off towards the edge of the town. Gangrel turned watching her. As she neared the edge of town she looked around cautiously and took off running...but not a normal human speed... Gangrel was intrigued, "That one," he said pointing to her dissapearing image. Edge and Christian grinned in agreeance.... They wandered off in the same direction the girl had gone, but she was long gone...or so they though. Trista watched the three men wonder around in the woods from her vantage point in the trees. She followed behind them...wondering what they were up to. She suddenly stopped and sniffed the air, she whirled around to see some movement behind her. Up the nearest tree she climbed.
On the ground below: Somehow Christian had gotten around behind her. He spun around, "Where the?" Edge and Gangrel joined him. "Well," said Edge. "Was it her?" "I thought it was, but once I got close enough no one was here." Trista shifted her weight to get comfortable, causing the leaves to shake. Gangrel looked up into the tree. Trista leaned back into the leaves trying to hide. A strong gust blew through the leaves, Trista sighed, "saved by the wind," she whispered. Gangrel stared for a bit more before finally looking away. Finally the three men left. She sat there for a bit till she couldn't smell their cents anymore, the climbed down. Cautiously she headed to her home in the woods.
As she reached her home, something didn't seem right. She hid behind a tree and surveyed the cabin, The door was opened slightly. Nothing out of the ordinary since it was a humid night. She sniffed the air...a familiar sent filled her nostrils. "No," she said as she ran to the cabin. Slowly she pushed the door the rest of the way opened. The cabin was a mess. She slowly walked through the living room...calling out, "Kai?!" There was no reply. "Kai!" Still nothing. She entered the bedroom and started to whimper as she saw her mate laying on the floor with a stake through his heart. "Noooo..." She kneeled down by him, he was still alive, but barely. "Kai," she said as she placed her hand on his chest. "Corey..." he gasped. "I know," she said as she taped her nose. He smiled slightly. Trista reached over and wiped a tear from his face. "My....wolfie.." he said just before he closed his eyes for good. She howled in pain. She stood up and knocked over the nearest thing, then fell onto all fours sobbing. She pulled herself up and headed outside, grabbed a shovel and headed out into the woods. She didn't go far before she started to dig. She headed back into the cabin, to Kai. She kneeled down again and kissed him on the lips. "I love you...Kai.." She hoasted him over her shoulder and headed back into the woods to the grave and buried him. Once done she kneeled down beside the marker...she was so busy she didn't notice Gangrel walking towards her.
Gangrel stood in the shadows watching this girl till she had knelt down beside the grave. He had to talk to her...so he approached.
Trista suddenly lifted her head up and growled at Gangrel. Gangrel paused and stared at her. "What do you want?!" she growled. "Just to talk." She slowly stood glaring at him. "And what were you doing earlier?" Gangrel looked surprised. The a slight smile appeared, "That was you...in the tree.." Trista looked down at the grave, she reached into a pouch around her waist and sprinkled flower petals over the grave. She looked at Gangrel. "Where's the rest of your Brood?" "You mean...." She motioned to the grave. "Him...not me..." She then sniffed the air...her eyes wondered from one side to the other. "What?" She walked to Gangrel, grabbed his arm and ran to the cabin.
Once inside, she pulled him into the bedroom, walked over to the bed and pulled it up to reveal a trap door system. "Quick...get in," she said as she rushed to grab a sack to put a change of clothes in. "Why?" "Just do it. I'll explain later!" Just as Gangrel got in they heared the front door being broken in. She dropped the sack into the hole and climbed in. The bed slowly lowered with the lid. "Go!" she said. They ran through the tunnel till they made it to the end. Trist was the first out... "Crap." They didn't have much time till the sun rose. Gangrel grabbed Trista, "This way." He lead her through the woods to a cave. They got inside just in time. Trista stopped and stood in the cave entrance staring out.
Chapter 2 Corey stood in the cabin, very upset that he had missed Trista and Gangrel...He thought he had almost had them. "Damn trapdoors." He sat down on the bed.
After the three went to sleep Trista headed back to her cabin. Only to find Corey. She watched him as he moved through the cabin. He walked into the woods to Kai's grave. Trista stood in a tree above him. He held a shovel in his hand. He pulled a long knife out of it's sheath and stuck it tip first into the ground. He started to dig. This infuriated Trista. Her eyes glowed yellow then back to normal. She jumped from the tree growling and landed on Corey's back pulling him to the ground with her. They both got to their feet. He looked at her questionably. "You're not a vampire!?" "No," she growled. She lunged at him, they exchanged a few blows. Trista knocked him down and straddled his chest. "Then what the hell are you?" She grinned slyly, "One of those rare creatures that you always hear about." He looked at her funny. About that time she reached behind her and pulled on something through her dress and gave a sigh of relief. Something furry switched back and forth behind her. "A tail?" She nodded. He pushed her off him and they rolled around a bit. Trista got a hold of the shovel. Just as she went to hit him a few more men showed up. The backed her into a tree. "Oh, Corey...be careful....full moon." She winked and climbed up the tree. She then moved from tree to tree back to the cave.
"I knew I'd need these," Trista said as she pulled the clothes out of the sack. A pair of hand made pants and a men's shirt. She then collapsed in exotion.
A few hours later she awoke, hungry. She headed outisde. "Mmmm...succulent rabbit," Trist said to herslef as she tracked it. She crouched down in the brush and at the right time she lunged at it. Catching it and killing it. She headed back to the cave with her catch. She got back just as the sun was setting. She started a fire to cook the rabbit. Gangrel, Edge and Christian woke up to a strange noise. They slowly moved towards the sound. "What are you doing?" asked Edge. Trista stopped her digging and turned towards them. "What does it look like?" She turned back, crouched and began digging with her hands again. She dropped the clothes from earlier in the hole. She turned facing them and started to send the dirt back into the hole. She turned her attention back to the fire and turned the rabbit. "What?" She sat down on a long. Edge, Christian and Gangrel did the same. "Now," said Gangrel. "I think you own us an explanation?" "About what?" "For instance...the trapdoor." "Well...you know about Kai...whom I had just buried when you showed up. He was like you three. And anywhere we lived we had an emergency escape root in case something like this was to happen. Apparently he didn't get to it in time," she paused. "This Corey guy..." The three perked up recognizing the name. "He's managed to find us just about everywhere. Of course now he knows that I'm not a vampire. He's not sure what the hell I am." She grinned, grabbed the rabbit and started to gnaw on it. She growled as her eyes turned yellow then back... Something kept catching Christian's eye behind Trista. He leaned a little to look behind her...And saw her tail. "Are you okay?" asked Gangrel. "I'm fine..I'm fine." Christian pointed, "Would you mind telling me about that?" She reached behind her and pulled her tail into view. Edge got up and walked over to her. "To put it simply..." Gangrel cut her off, "You're a wolf." She looked at him somewhat shocked and nodded. Then looked at Edge who was staring at her tail. "You can touch it, it won't bite." He smiled and reached for it only to pet against the fur. "No..." she said with a playful growl and a smile. "What?" "With the fur." Edge laughed and petted with the fur. "A wolf?" said Christian. "How else do you think she caught the rabbit?" Edge questioned sarcastically as he sat back down by Gangrel. Trista started laughing, then stopped when she saw the hurt look on Christian's face. He continued, "I thought the ones like you were long gone." "Well obviously not," she took another bite of her rabbit. "We're all over the place, we've just adapted well." They sat in silence for a bit. Edge and Christian wandered off. Gangrel moved to sit beside Trista. "You know he's headed here...right." Gangrel nodded. "We knew the day would come." All the sudden Trista clenched her eyelids shut and shook her head. "What's wrong?" She looked up at him her eyes staying yellow. "Full moon..." she said. "It affects all us wolves no matter how mellow we are." She looked down. "I'm trying to stay under control," she sighed deeply. "Kai used to help me so much." A tear rolled down her cheek. Gangrel reached over and wiped her cheek. She started sobbing. Gangrel wrapped hier arms around her and comforted her.
Chapter 3
The next day while the four were asleep Corey was tracking his way to the cave.
Trista was kneeling over Kai's grave when Corey appeared. Filled with rage she tried to fight him but seemed to fail. He was ready to kill her when Gangrel showed up to help her. The full moon was affecting her...not knowing what she was doing she attacked Gangrel and couldn't stop herself. She sat bolt upright...shaking and sweaty. Her tail was all puffed up. She pulled it near her and stroked it. Not wanting to go back to sleep she headed to the mouth of the cave. She took a deep breath and stopped, "Corey..." she whispered.
"Man," Corey said as he came upon the umpteenth animal carcus. He knew he was close to the fours lair. "She's most definatly hungry." He kicked a carcus out of the way. "A wolf? I thought those kind were mythical?" said one of his men. Corey smiled. "Every myth has some truth to it."
At sunset Trista hid in the bushes near the cave. One of Corey's men had wandered off and was headed towards Trista. Sensing the threat the wolf in her took over. She lunged at the man, scratching, biting and growling. He didn't even have the chance to scream.
Corey stopped under at ree. Something dripped on Corey's head. He reached up and touched his head. When he brought his hand back down there was blood on it. "Holy shit," he said as he looked up. Trist was crouched down on a branch, baring her now very promenant fangs. Blood was dripping from her teeth and herself. She growled at them. Corey took aim and fired...but she jumped to another branch. Then preceeded to jump to the ground and run. Corey and the two men left of his crew looked at each other in disbelief before rushing off after her.
"Where'd she go!?" yelled Corey as he stopped...only to find himself alone, "shit.."
The two men sat under a tree. They started hearing strange noises. They grabbed their lanterns and pulled them closer to them. There was a howl. They looked at each other. Fear in their eyes and quickly stood up. They stood back to back as the noises got closer. This time there was a growl. They both jumped and took off, leaving Corey by himself.
Corey walked into the cave, finding it empty...or so it seemed. "Cooorey..." echoed through out the cave. He stopped where he was. "Coorey..." He saw a pair of yellow eyes in a corner. They started closing in on him. Then they were gone. "What the..." He was pushed from behind into the cave wall causing him to drop his gun. Gangrel grabbed ahold of his arms and held him in place. Trista stood in front of him. An evil look on her fave. "Bring him outside," she said. Gangrel, Edge and Christian picked him up and headed outside. They dropped him. "Ow," he said as he rolled across the ground. He stood up facing Trista. She sneered, baring her teeth, she growled in the back of her throat. She lunged at him. They rolled around on the groun. Once stopped Trista was straddling his chest. She started to punh at him. He pushed her off him into a tree. She rubbed her head as he stood up. He pulled out his knife and thrust it at her. She jumped out of the way. Edge jumped in trying to get the knife away. Corey swung and cut him across the stomach. He then swung at Trista. She didn't react quick enough and he caught her in the arm. She grabbed her arm, then raised her bloody hand in front of her face and licked it. Disgusting Corey. He closed in on her. Christian jumped in, he grabbed hold of Corey's neck and tried to sink his teeth into his neck. His teeth grated Corey's neck as he pushed him off. He turned his attention back towards Trista. She kicked the knife out of his hand. It fley behind him. Edge picked it up. Trista pushed Corey backwards right into his sword. Edge let go of it and Corey fell to his knees. Trista crouched down in front of him, her tail switching from side to side. "Now...you shall become what you've tried to kill for all these years," she growled at him. Gangrel, Edge and Christian closed in on him. She waved sarcastically and got up. "He's all yours." Corey screamed in pain.
The next day the four got what little things they had together and moved on. Corey on the other hand....well.....he slowly went crazy......
